General Information:
A 6-month Research Associate position is available at Washington State University Tri-Cities in Richland, WA, in Dr. Bhaskar Bundara’s laboratory. The successful candidate will work independently and closely with Dr. Bondada to study the cellular and ultrastructural responses of grapevines infected with the Red Blotch virus. This research will utilize transmission and scanning electron microscopy techniques at the Electron Microscopy Facility at WSU in Pullman, WA, where the successful candidate will be located and conduct the research.
Qualifications/Requirements:
The ideal candidate should hold an MS or PhD and possess a foundational knowledge of plant anatomy and ultrastructure. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in microscopy, particularly in electron microscopy-related research.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will receive training in electron microscopy techniques. The primary responsibilities of the researcher will include preparing grapevine tissues for examination through transmission and scanning electron microscopy. This preparation process involves fixing tissues using various fixatives, sectioning the embedded tissues with an ultramicrotome, staining, examining the sections with electron microscopy, and interpreting the results and micrographs.
