General Information:
The School of Science and Business at Southern Oregon University (SOU) is seeking candidates for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Biology – Botany/Plant Physiology.
Teaching responsibilities will include plant physiology (a core requirement of the major) and upper-division elective courses in their areas of expertise, which may include but is not limited to biogeochemistry, field botany, plant form and function, plant ecology, plant pathology and plant systematics. Additional teaching will include introductory courses in biology and may include development of science-based, non-majors general education courses. The position will work collaboratively with programs/majors in biology, ecology & conservation, and environmental science. Because SOU is located within the botanically diverse Klamath Mountains ecoregion, preference will be given to candidates whose teaching and research integrates botanical resources from the diverse Klamath Mountains ecoregion. Qualifications/Requirements:
Initial appointment at the rank of assistant professor requires a terminal degree in Biology, Botany, Plant Physiology, or related field, or ABD, from an accredited institution.

Other responsibilities include advising, departmental and university service, curriculum development, research, professional affiliations as appropriate, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation Range:
$65,508 - $69,520 (Assistant Prof YIR 1-4) commensurate with experience in a comparable faculty appointment and according to the SOU faculty collective bargaining agreement
