General Information: The New England Botanical Club is seeking applications for a professional Editor-in-Chief for the organization's quarterly scientific journal 'Rhodora', which publishes scholarly articles relating to the flora of the New England region and beyond. This is a paid, part-time position (~$10K/year). The Editor-in-Chief will oversee all aspects of journal production, assisted by the Managing Editor and a committee of volunteer Associate Editors.
Qualifications/Requirements: The successful candidate will demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the fields covered by the journal through a solid record of peer-reviewed publication and, preferably, service on editorial boards.

Possess excellent organizational, writing, and editorial skills, and be conversant in new technologies for publishing and promoting academic journals, including on-line publication, website dissemination, and social media.
Responsibilities: Oversee the publication of original, important, and well-documented peer-reviewed articles on a diverse range of botanical topics.

Collaborate with and oversee the work of the journal's Managing Editor, and maintain efficient working relationships with the volunteer Associate Editors of the journal's editorial board.

Propose and finalize the journal's yearly budget in consultation with the New England Botanical Club Council, and seek new sources of funding as needed to ensure the long-term viability of the journal.

Actively promote the journal Rhodora at conferences, lectures, and via web presence and social media.
